Oppo review, 20?? Hyundai whatever

Today, I'm renting a Hyundai. Specifically their entry into the wonderfully interesting Corolla/Civic segment of the market. According to the key fob I was given it is called the "ACNT", so I'll just go with that.

Now, I was always told that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, so if there is one nice thing about the ACNT, it's the driver's seat. It has a freaking captain's chair with armrests and everything. I expect this would make a very comfortable long commuter for the average person.

Exterior: 5/10

It's a standard car appliance

Interior: 5/10

It has standard car appliance type things. I like the blue dash, I dislike the thin cheap feeling steering wheel.

Braking: 6/10

It has brakes, pretty good ones. Enough to make my girlfriend scream at me when my left foot slammed down on the pedal looking for a clutch. Which brings me to...

Transmission: 2/10

It's an auto, not a good one. The manual mode is acceptable, but has a lot of delay and the pattern is reversed

Toys: 5/10

You can turn off traction control, but the ACNT is front wheel drive so what's the point?

Audio 5/10

Decent stereo to drown out the dreary engine note. The car is silent enough at idle that I've wondered a few times at lights if it had stalled.

Handling: 5/10

It reacts well to input without much body roll. I can honestly say this handles far better than my beater Jetta, but there is absolutely no steering feel whatsoever.

Acceleration: 4/10

It scares me to pull out into traffic with how slow and unpredictable the automatic transmission is. It only seems to give adequate acceleration when floored.

Ride: 7/10

Floaty, comfortable, forgettable.

Value: 10/10

It's only costing me $26 for the day, so I would call that a decent value. In fact, for someone just in the market for an a to b appliance, the 20?? Hyundai ACNT is pretty decent.

It not that bad, perhaps the Hyundai "sad day" would be more fitting. I don't think it crosses into full blown depression.

I imagine they put it there so there is no confusing it with a your kitchen appliances (if you happen to have white appliances). You have no idea how long I spent this morning trying to cram bread into nooks and crannies for my morning toast. Then I saw the writing on the key fob and I felt like such a fool.

Luckily for me, I have stainless steel appliances. So I guess if you brought me a gray ACNT, I'd probably get confused then.

I had basically the same rental. I actually thought it was fun to drive, and a bit refreshing in a way: it felt light and basic, which is not common these days.
